Outsource Institute (Aus), founded in 1998, is an Australian Engineering College (RTO- registered training organisation), delivering qualifications in Engineering, Welding, and specialised trade & technical skills to the Mining, Defence, Manufacturing, and Engineering sectors both domestically and internationally. Having partnered with the industry for over 25 years, we are at the forefront of what skills and knowledge are needed in the metals and engineering sector and we make it our business to deliver it both directly and through industry partnerships with Weld Australia, Custom Fluid Power, SMC Corporation (Australia) Pty Ltd, Workforce Success, RPR Trades, Solidus IQ, Technoweld, and Diverseco. Outsource Institute (Aus) is proud to embark on a transformative journey with Adriatic Metals in Bosnia, addressing critical objectives to enhance vocational education, workforce skills, and community development. The strategic partnership, under a 5-year contract, aims to revolutionize the mining industry landscape in Bosnia.

Key Objectives

1. Vocational Education Enhancement

Adriatic Metals is committed to uplifting the Bosnian community by linking with local high schools. The project’s cornerstone is an innovative “Australian” style apprenticeship program at the Vares mine site, providing direct entry opportunities for bright young individuals eager to pursue careers in mine site maintenance.

2. Workforce Standardisation

A comprehensive competency assessment, aligned with the Australian Metals, Engineering, and Manufacturing training package (MEM) competencies, has been conducted for all existing tradespeople and will be for all newly recruited employees. The subsequent individualised “gap training” process ensures that each tradesperson’s skills reach the Australian equivalent level of competency, contributing to standardised and world-leading trade skills on-site.

• World-Class Safety and Efficiency: The project emphasizes the early adoption of “world’s best practice” safety and environmental management knowledge and skills, enhancing the efficiency and productivity of all tradespeople on-site by aligning their vocational skills with global standards.
• Australian Style Apprenticeship System: Introduction of an Australian-style “School-based Apprenticeship” system with surrounding high schools, fostering the delivery of high-quality trade skills to young, promising students interested in a career in mine site maintenance.
