As an Outsource Institute (AUS) student there are a range of subsidies, concessions and payment options that may be eligible for to assist with the cost of your training.

Skills Assure – Funded by the Queensland Government

 

The Skills Assure program provides public funding for the delivery of accredited, entry level to advanced
trade training to apprentices and trainees.

 

The program works in conjunction with the Commonwealth Australian Apprenticeships System, under which
apprentices and trainees (also known in some jurisdictions as “Australian Apprentices”) enter into legally
binding training contracts with their employers and receive structured training to achieve a nationally
recognised qualification.


The Skills Assure program enables apprentices, trainees and their employers to select a preferred Registered
Training Organisation (RTO) from a list of pre-qualified Suppliers for the delivery of accredited training
to meet their specific needs.

 

Will I need to contribute to the cost of training?
The majority of the costs of the training are covered by the Queensland State Government, however, there is
a State Government mandatory Student Tuition Fee requirement, a Co-Contribution Fee and an Enrolment Fee is
payable by either the employer or the employee. The final amount payable will not be known until after
enrolment when any Credit Transfers or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is completed and the amount of
required Gap Training is identified.

If Gap Training is required, it is charged at $1.60 per nominal hour.

 

What training is available?

Subsidies are provided for a select number of Certificate level, Diploma and level qualifications. Outsource

Certificate 3 GUARANTEE – funded by the Queensland Government

 

The Certificate 3 Guarantee provides subsidies to assist Queenslander’s obtain their first post-school Certificate level III qualification.  A Certificate III is the first level of post-school qualification shown to have a significant impact on a person’s employment and earnings. It is also the level of qualification usually required to get a job in industries such as aged care, child care, hospitality and small business.  To help students who may need to develop skills before undertaking a certificate III course, the Certificate 3 Guarantee will also cover foundation skills including language, literacy and numeracy as well as Certificate I and II Qualifications that lead to the Certificate III.

Individuals undertaking training must contribute to their training costs through a ‘co-contribution fee’. The fee may be paid on behalf of the individual by an employer or another third party.

Higher Level Skills Program – funded by the Queensland Government


The Higher Level Skills program provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals access subsidised training in selected Certificate IV or above qualifications and priority skill sets.  The aim is to assist individuals to gain the higher level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in priority industries or to transition to university to continue their studies.  Employers may also be able to access training to address workforce development needs.  Outsource Institute has been pre-approved by The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) as a pre-qualified supplier (PQS) to deliver training and assessment services.

 

How does the program work?
The subsidy is paid directly to the RTO as training is delivered and reported to DESBT.


Will I need to contribute to the cost of training?
Individuals undertaking training must contribute to their training costs through a ‘co-contribution fee’. The fee may be paid on behalf of the individual by an employer or another
third party.

 

Am I eligible?

To be eligible to undertake training under Higher Level Skills program, prospective students must meet the following eligibility criteria. You must:

  • be aged 15 years or above and no longer at school
  • permanently reside in Queensland
  • be an Australian Citizen, Australian permanent resident, including humanitarian entrant,
    a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to
    permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen: and finally
  • not hold or be enrolled, in a Certificate IV or higher level qualification, not
    including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills.

What training is available?

Subsidies are provided for a select number of Certificate level, Diploma and Advanced Diploma level qualifications, and priority skill sets critical to productivity within the workplace.

Northern Territory

USER CHOICE PROGRAM – FUNDED BY THE NORTHERN TERRITORY GOVERNMENT

The objective of the User Choice Funding Program is to increase the responsiveness of the vocational education and training sector to meet the needs of clients through the encouragement of a direct and market driven relationship between individual public and private training providers and clients.

User choice funding is provided to registered training organisations to provide training and assessment to apprentices and trainees to achieve nationally recognised qualifications.

The User Choice Funding Program allows employers, together with the apprentices and trainees they employ, to choose which registered training organisation (RTO) will provide them with the training and assessment services and to negotiate key aspects of the training such as where, how and when it will be provided.

Under the NT User Choice Funding Program, approved RTOs are funded for the provision of accredited training and assessment services to apprentices and trainees based on the nominal hours of the qualification paid at the appropriate industry rate. An additional loading is applied to training and assessment services provided to students in regional and remote areas.

Will I need to contribute to the cost of training?
The majority of the costs of the training are covered by the Northern Territory Government, however, there is a Student Tuition Fee requirement and an Enrolment Fee is payable by either the employer or the employee. The final amount payable will not be known until after enrolment when any Credit Transfers or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is completed and the amount of required GAP training is identified.

If Gap Training is required it will be charged at $1.60 per nominal hour. Maximum $2,200.00 for full qualification.

South Australia

South Australia


Skilling South Australia – funded by the South Australian Government

 

Skilling South Australia is a South Australian Government initiative that is driving growth in apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities.  If you want to study a course that will give you skills employers need, you may be able to pay reduced course fees.  If your training is subsidised, the South Australian Government pays part of your course fees for you.

 

Apprenticeships and traineeships are a priority for the State Government, as are foundation skills. To discover what apprenticeship and traineeship qualifications are available, see the Subsidised Training List.  By encouraging people to train in these vital areas, employers have access to the skilled workers they need today and in the future.

 

here are also partially funded training opportunities available outside of traineeships and apprenticeships where you can undertake training for your own personal and professional development via a general contract so long as it is a part of the Subsidised Training List.  Please inquire for more information.

 

Will I need to contribute to the cost of training?

The majority of the costs of the training are covered by the South Australian Sate Government, however, there is a Student Tuition Fee and an Enrolment Fee payable.  The final amount payable will not be known until after enrolment when any Credit Transfers or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is completed and the amount of required GAP training is identified.

 

If Gap Training is required, it is charged at $3.00 per nominal hour.

Western Australia

Jobs & skills WA PROGRAM – Funded by the Western Australian Government

 

Jobs & Skills WA is about investing in training that equips people to take up jobs that are, or will be, in high demand in Western Australia. To do this, Jobs & Skills WA provides a guaranteed, subsidised training place for eligible students enrolled in courses that are deemed State priority qualifications, where a training place is available.

 

Apprenticeships and traineeships are a priority for the State Government, as are foundation skills. Other priority training areas are identified on the State’s priority industry qualifications list. By encouraging people to train in these vital areas, employers have access to the skilled workers they need today and in the future.

 

Jobs & Skills WA courses are delivered by TAFE colleges and specially selected private registered training providers. These are known as preferred private training providers.

 

Will I need to contribute to the cost of training?
All Jobs & Skills WA courses are heavily subsidised by the Government of Western Australia, however, there is a Student Tuition Fee requirement and an Enrolment Fee is payable by either the employer or the employee. The final amount payable will not be known until after enrolment when any Credit Transfers or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is completed and the amount of required GAP training is identified.

 

If Gap Training is required it will be charged at $3.25 per nominal hour for a non-concession student or $0.97 per nominal hour for a concession student, please refer to this website Department of Training and Workforce Development – VET Fees and Charges Policy for all fees and charges that may be applicable.

 

Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.  Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.

 

Who is eligible for fee concessions?
Students who are eligible for fee concessions in 2016 are:

  • holders (and their dependants) of either a pensioner concession card, repatriation health benefits card or health care card;
  • recipients (and their dependants) of AUSTUDY, ABSTUDY or Youth Allowance;
  • inmates of a custodial institution (and their dependants); and
  • students born on or after 1 July 1998 who are at least 15 years of age.
